Revd Dr Jonathan Jong

During the Coronavirus pandemic we will be hosting our research seminar series online. Join us for the Michaelmas Term Research Seminars all at 1pm UK time.

On Tuesday 10th November Dr Jonathan Jong will be giving us a seminar talk entitled – Experimental Psychology of Religion. Join in at 1pm for the talk followed by Q&A.

Philosophers and, latterly, social and psychological scientists have been theorising about religion for a very long time. It is, however, only in from the 1990s onward that experimental psychological methods have been brought to bear on the subject, especially in social, cognitive, and developmental psychology. In this talk, we shall discuss several examples of psychologists experimenting with religion to consider how fruitful this recent labour has been and can continue to be.
